Great first season for the JIBS University Centre hockey team

Trystan Colley, who graduated in October 2015, decided to set up a summer hockey team for the JIBS University Centre. Here's his blog explaining how they got on.

Every year, the Jersey Hockey Association conducts a Corporate Summer Hockey League which is filled with teams from locally based institutions. The primary aim of the league is to introduce new players to the sport and allow players to get some much-needed fitness. I looked to set up a team as I felt it provided a good opportunity to continue the development of the social scene at JIBS. Furthermore, hockey is a sport I am very passionate about and it also provided an opportunity to introduce new players to the game.

It was a relatively successful season, finishing mid-table. We managed to gel well as a team, developed an excellent team spirit and were able to play some nice hockey. I am also pleased that 3 novices who took part in our team plan to play the sport full-time, including our own Damien Chaddock. I hope that next year more students and staff will be interested in getting involved and, combined with our JIBS football team, allows us to continually develop our thriving social scene.
