An ‘amazing lecturer, mentor and inspiration’ has been put forward for the Teacher of the Year award.
Chris Usher has been a senior lecturer at Jersey International Business school since 2011, working for a college that provides students with qualifications in the business sector. Mr Usher is an integral part of the team that helps prepare students for the business world, a fact which has been recognised by his nominators, who are the whole JIBS 2014 cohort.
In their nomination they said: ‘Nothing is too much trouble for Chris. He takes time out of his busy schedule to go above and beyond for all students to help them achieve their best and ensure that the degree is as manageable as possible.’
JIBS provides a three-year degree that is completed in only two calendar years, meaning supportive staff are vital to a student’s success.
‘He has worked so hard to make JIBS what it is today for both business professionals and the students,’ they said. ‘He deserves this award more than anything to recognise his love and passion that has gone into creating a business which gives locals a chance to get a relevant degree on the Island and the love and passion he has for teaching and developing the future of our finance industry. ‘
In final praise of the lecturer, the nominators said: ‘From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Chris for everything. It would not have been possible without you.’
